Lib Dem MP for Bristol West Stephen Williams has put down a Commons motion congratulating Bristol Oscar winners Nick Park and Steve Box.

Stephen said "I have enjoyed the work of Aardman Animations over many years and they greatly deserve their success for their most recent piece of work. I wish them well for the future and would like to add a personal note of thanks for the way that they have improved the image and profile of Bristol around the world."

The motion, which has gained cross party support, reads as follows:

That this House congratulates Nick Park, Steve Box and the team at Aardman Animations on winning the US Academy Award Oscar in the best animated feature film category for The Curse of the Were-Rabbit; notes that this is the third Wallace and Gromit film to win an Oscar and the fourth award for Nick Park; recognises that this follows success in the BAFTAs earlier this year and builds upon a 30 year record of producing popular animated films that has enhanced Bristol's reputation as a centre of excellence in films and television and has been a boost to the creative industries of the UK.
